Morton Walk-Off Gives the 14u Moose First Win of Summer

The pitching was lights out. The energy was miraculous. And when the rally was needed, the 14u Moose came through. With the bases jacked up in the bottom of the seventh, and the score 0-0, Carter Morton delivered.

Ryan Smith had the game of his life, showcasing both sides of the ball. Smith faced the last seven batters of the game, striking out five. He also stirred together a game-high two hits and was the only player for both teams to cross the plate. Boy, oh boy, did he cross the plate at the right time.

Carter Morton, a right-handed slugger, came up to the plate with the bases load, a tie ball game, and a chance to capture the year's first win. A high fly ball to right field, caught by the outfielder, allowed Ryan Smith to tag up and score the winning run. What a way to record the teams first win.

Other notable assets, Rayyan Haider, started on the mound and performed three scoreless innings. Ben Lemieux followed by delivering two scoreless innings and providing a base hit with his hot bat.

At the end of the day, the 14u Moose played a beautiful game and had the time of their lives doing it.
