The tall and lanky 14-year-old dominated the diamond this past Thursday night. Ryan Smith, a kid who has been dreaming of playing at Vanderbilt University his entire life, made a good case for a scout or two to take the trip down from Nashville to West Hartford.
The 14u Moose played against the CT Riptide, and Ryan Smith got the start. Smith went six innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. Do you think that stat line is impressive? Add in ten strikeouts to the line, and that is what Ryan Smith did on Thursday night. Not only was Smith dominant on the mound, but he also drove in five runs with a triple and two singles.
