14u Moose Near Miraculous Comeback Ends With Loss of Light

So close, yet so far. The 14u Moose played the CT Whalers on a comfortably cloudy night at Kingswood Oxford. Dealing from Santaro. Clutch pokes delivered by Lemieux. Speedy strides by Merrit.

After struggling in his opening day start a week ago, Left-hander Matt Santoro delivered a solid two and a third innings on the mound. He cooked the fastball, followed by nasty breaking balls. Santoro has a bright future, and tonight was just the beginning.

Impressive plate appearances by Ben Lemieux and Jonah Balcerzak in the bottom of the fourth inning sparked the offense late for the Moose.

A seven-run fourth inning cut an eight-run Whaler lead to one. Nearly tying it up, a missed opportunity with the bases loaded kept the Moose from scorching past the Whalers. As the darkness crept onto the field, the CT Whalers collected three runs in the top of the fifth to create separation in the scorebook.

Unfortunately, with a shortage of light, the game concluded after a scoreless bottom of the fifth. An almost miraculous comeback for the 14u Moose ended in disappointment. But, for the next time these boys play, some revenge and fight will blossom. Look out for the 14u Moose; they are coming in hot.
