The 14u Moose got the night shift for an overcast Saturday out in Branford, Connecticut, and the bats came swingin. A third and fourth inning filled with drama at the plate, Dom Trolio contributed to a four run third to take a 5-2 lead over the Energy NBS heading into the bottom half of the third. The Energy NBS had a day at the plate as well, rallying to tack on two in the second and third.
Adam Gold got the start on the mound for the Connecticut Moose, going three efficient innings allowing two hits and two runs. Gold also got the job done at the plate, knocking in a run and squaring the ball up for two hits in two plate appearances.
Jonah Balcerzak, fresh off a home run last weekend, decided to keep pummeling the ball around the yard. He slammed a wall-ball to generate a big 3rd inning for the Moose. Cooper Tantraporn stood strong behind the plate for the Moose catching all seven innings.
Ronan Culligan tossed two quiet innings in relief allowing two hits and two runs with one punch out. Jonah Balcerzak came into close things out for the Moose after the Energy NBS made a last inning push to make things interesting. Thankfully, the Moose held on, taking down the Energy NBS 7-6.
The Moose play at 7pm tonight for its second half of the Saturday double header, and then back in action on Sunday for a chance at another championship run.
